Early Care and Education Quality Initiative
In 2015 the Child Care Council implemented a Quality Initiative in partnership with Chemung County. The goal of the initiative was to support child care programs in their efforts to enhance their programs and provide quality early care and education services for children.
In 2017 the Council, with support from Chemung County and United Way continue this effort through the implementation of the Early Literacy Connection © program. The Early Literacy Connection © program was developed and copyrighted by Steuben Child Care Project (known as Child Care Aware of Steuben and Schuyler), a division of ProAction. Early Literacy Connections © is an early literacy curriculum, based on research, developed expressly for home-based, multi-age child care settings. It provides full lesson plans, teacher tips, plus accompanying materials and cross-disciplinary activities.
There are a limited number of slots for programs to participate. Preference is given to programs that have participated in past quality initiatives.
